Yes, I know. Why tout yet another self-congratulatory effort on the part of Hollywood? It's just another left-wing conspiracy to show off its glamour side and blah blah blah...

Why? Because it's fun, that's why. I get a huge kick out of watching the Oscars. The flubs, the faux feelings, the glitz... It's an annual train wreck! I love to watch, and I love to bet! So here are my picks for the winners at this year's show!

Hollyweed can't seem to do anything original these days, so "Crash" was a breath of fresh air. It is one of the most innovative, cleverly written, and original movies they have ever made but we all know who is going to get the award so why bother?

Crash should get Best Picture - it was amazing. Not just because of the message but because of the sense of loss at the end of the movie. The majority of movies today end on a positive note. Crash ends just like it began, with no end in sight...

But since Hollywood has a political agenda, they are going to give Brokeback Mountain the award.

I agree, folks. "Crash" was amazing. It moved me in ways I thought gone after so very many years of moviegoing. It is my choice for the best film of the year.

But, the Acadamy is going to vote other ways. That's why I posted the list. It will be the year for "Brokeback Mountain", I assure you. The only real hesitation I have for my selections is Heath Ledger. His closest competitor is Phillip Seymour Hoffman. I haven't seen a Capote that good since Robert Morse's dynamite take in "Tru". I'm also a bit iffy on Ang Lee taking Best Directing. It might just as easily go to Clooney since he doesn't have much chance of getting Best Supporting this year.

Yeah, Brokebutt Mtn. is going to walk with everything, even though it's almost certainly not the best film.

This afternoon, Rush Limbaugh was looking over the nominees and said he didn't realize that Edward R. Murrow was gay.
