Some of the guys here saw it and said it was total crap. Basically it was "Im bored, I'm bored, I'm bored...I'M GUNNA DO SOMETHING CUZ I'M BORED..." A lot of the usual hollywood BS derived from their lack of practicle military knowledge.

A lot of the usual hollywood BS derived from their lack of practicle military knowledge. As far as being total crap, I'm sure you're right. There were some ridiculous parts to it. All, I'm saying is that it held my attention all the way through. I have problems even sitting through most movies that come out of Hollywood these days. I made it all the way through this one. However, living in a tent city for six months before being able to go unleash some hell has got to be tough, especially when you know that the road HOME goes through Baghdad.

You know, TOP GUN was completely bullshit too, but it was still an enjoyable movie.

Not saying that it NEVER happened, but, the concept that an entire "STA" Platoon (Surveillence & Target Aquisition - AKA "Scout - Sniper"), would be recruiter, trained (as one class) & assigned (as a unit) to 1 Bn sounds pretty fishy.
It' would be (inexactly) comparable to a flight class graduating, and ALL driving their birds to the new base/carrier & all painting the new Sqn colors on & calling themselves ...."The Black Sheep" or whatever.
