My roommates owned Band of Brothers and we watched it numerous times - we also watched it at boot camp.
It's an awesome series. I hope that one day I can be half of the officer that Captain Winters was.

I finally got to see it. 101, you have quite a tradition there. Yes Sir! One of the proudest moments of my lfe was to sit at the dinner table with some of these guys at the 101st reunion in Reno three years ago. I told them how we had all looked up to them and found that they had pretty big boots to fill. To a man they said how they respected us and were grateful that they had fought in their war rather than ours and that, in their opinion, we'd filled them pretty well. It was truly an awesome experience.

It was truly an awesome experience. It said in the series that one of the assaults they made on a fixed position is still taught at West Point. It's hard not to stand in awe of what those WWII vets accomplished. And it's hard not to stand in awe of what you guys did, either. You did your part, and you won that damn war even if the hippies and the comlibs wish you didn't. So stand proud today. This Vietnam Era vet salutes you.

The assault on the guns at normandy is what is taught. How he utilized his limited assets and the speed he carried out the raid. There are numerous leadership lessons throughout the book and most were included in the series. The book is on the required reading list for officers and NCOs.

Band of Brothers was the best show made. It only only presence the individual soldiers and officers story, but it shows the happiness, sadness, suffering, carring, etc. In this show you can see bravery, leadership traits which some of them we lost today. In the way it could be used as a military training tool.

Yeah, these guys would be viewed as neanderthals by the comlib left. They'd rather have fag sheepherders for their heroes.
