Steve, remember when we used to do the western narrative over in the old Computer Junkyard?
I wish we had known about "Lonesome Dove" back then - I just got the Pulitzer prize winning hardback last week from Amazon. I have seen the movie, and neither disappoints.

Great book, great film.
Probably my all-time favorite.

The "Lonesome Dove" miniseries plays like it was made for thr big screen. The only disappointing thing about it was it was made for the small screen, and like Gettysburg, could never be remade again for the big screen. The magic would be lost.

Great performances all around.
I think that's still Duvall's favorite role.

He calls it his "Hamlet". Nobody else could have played that role, and as average as I think Tommy Lee Jones is, that was his high water mark, too.
I think Steve Buscemi probably cemented his reputation as a scumbag in that movie as well.
