Has anyone else seen this freaky thing? Whew! I read the Stephan King's short story on this a few years back. This is kinda like the shawshank redemtion. Both movies were based on short stories by Stephan King and both expanded on items from the book rather than shortening it down like most based on book movies do. In this case I would say the movie is a bit better because of how much more into it they go. The one thing that put me out though was that in King's version, the main character is a arrogant jackass who your kinda rootin gets his ass handed to him and in the end he does. During the movie I still wanted to see that same thing with John Cusak, but they went out of their way to give an explination (scenes with his wife and daughter) of why he was an asshole at certain parts of the movie. Overall a decent film. EDIT: I also watched "The Mist" in theatres last month. This is another film that is based on a short story by Stephan King which I read a few years back. I really liked this film. It stayed pretty true to the feel of the story as well as the plot lines. One major difference was that the endings were different, but in this case I think the movie version was a lot better.
