I'm looking for some good fiction that I can read. Fantasy would be a good category. I took up Goodkind's Sword of Truth series and am very disappointed. Although he had interesting and imaginative stories, the way he puts his story together is boring me to tears. I can't tell you how many paragraphs and pages I end up skipping because he's so repetitive and goes into sermons. It's a shame, really. I've read the Dune series (the author takes his story waaaay too seriously, imo, hard to relax and read), Robert Jordon's Wheel of Time series (they were pretty good, a little repetitious and the main character got a little annoying, but overall, good), Terry Brooks books are good, I enjoyed all of them, and of course Tolkein's works are just wonderful. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I need some lighter reading material to get my mind off things when I cannot be actively busy.

Have you looked at the Belgariad series by Eddings? His characters tend to act more like real people then the average "hero".
For a twist look at the World War series by Turttledove...Aliens invade the earth in 1942, at the height of WWII.
I got burned out reading the Wheel of time series...the books got long winded. 700 pages of filler with the climax taking place on the last 5 pages.

Sorry Merc, the last fictional writter I ever got into was Stephan King and I haven't read anything by him in 3 years.
I wonder if jfree wouldn't be the best person to give you advice on this?

Well thank you for your responses. I held out before replying because I thought there might be more suggestions. But I will consider those suggested. BB, I'm not sure I will read any of King's books, he scares me too much...lol!
If I cannot find a good fantasy series, book, I might also look at the Borne Supremacy books. I loved the movies, maybe the books will be good?
