For those who are interested, share with us what is your traditional meal during the Christmas holidays. Since I initiated this sequement, I will start.
When I was a child we started celebrating Christmas on 24th in the evening. Our meal consisted of fish soup which was followed by breaded fish (fried) and home made potato salad. Later this was followed by home made Christmas cookies such as vanilla rolls, coco cookies, and other traditional cookies.
On Christmas day in the morning we had braded Christmas bread and afternoon we cooked a turkey.
Today weare still keeping the old European tradition. My kids like it. Instead of breaded fried fish we make chicken schnitzel with home made potato salad. None in my family like fish soup except me, so we don't have a soup.

Wow, Peter, you guys definitely like being 'different'. I cannot remember (as a child) anything traditional, as far as main meat goes, for Christmas. It might have been a turkey, a rolled roast beef (MY FAV!) or ham. But we always had tiny creamed onions..yum. Lately my family has been ordering a ham from New Hampshire, since we do not seem to be able to find that excellent hams I grew up with here in KS. I'm serving orzo with snap peas in a cream sauce and creamed spinach with portabello mushrooms. Cheesecake for dessert. ;D

Not necessarily a Christmas only deal with Beef Wellington. Mrs. Remey will make it other times though out the year for special family gatherings.
