I've got a CW permit, and like to stay proficient with my .40 cal. Glock so I try and get to the range at least once a month to shoot it, and some of my rifles. I've also got a lease on 600 acres in West central Florida, where I go just about every weekend during our 3 month hunting season. We also have a spring turkey season that starts in a couple of weeks, so I'll probably take a weekend for that. That .300 H&H is quite a round! I guess out West you can use it, but here it's way to much gun. I used to have a Browning semi auto in .300 Win. mag., but the only time I used it was on a trip to Idaho, so I traded it off for a Colt AR-15 SP1. Like you, I also have a 7mm mag., but mine's a Remington 700. Since like the .300, with the exception of 300+ lb. hogs it's a bit of overkill, I shoot the lightest bullets, 139 grain that it pushes at over 3100 fps. . Even though I don't use it very often, I plan on keeping it, since I hope to get out to your part of the country again someday. I generally hunt deer, and hogs with my .270, or .308. It may sound crazy, but I really love shooting, and hunting with my black powder guns. Our muzzle loader season starts a month before the general gun season. I have a .50 cal. Thompson Center Renegade (Hawkin replica), that I hunted with for years, but a couple of years ago I finally succumbed and bought an in-line, a CVA Optima Pro, also in .50 cal., that has really impressed me with it's accuracy.

I don't load myself, some of my friends do. I like the 165 grain Nosler Partitions for the 7MM,since I do hunt elk, and had 139gr bullets blow up on bones.
In the H&H I like a 200 grain Corelockt. I've had great luck with it.
