To put the whole "Chinese Exclusion Act" (and the days of American institutionalized racism) into perspective, let's check out what ELSE was going on in America back in the 1800s.
Did you see the series Deadwood? THAT is about the time frame we are talking about.
We're talking about the days of Wild Bill "aces and eights" Hickok and Calamity Jane for Christ's sake.
We're talking about the days of George Armstrong Custer!
Jesus man!
To dredge up the racial injustices of that era and attempt to use them to prosecute our current immigration policy as being RACIST is really beyond the pale.
It doesn't pass the straight-face test.
You are trying to draw a parallel between attitudes we had in the days of Custer with our national policies today.
Is it any wonder that nobody is buying it?

We're beyond the Chinese Exclusion Act. But thank you for recognizing that the origin of US immigration law has roots in racial beliefs. Now time to move on to the next major legislation in US immigration.

We're beyond the Chinese Exclusion Act. But thank you for recognizing that the origin of US immigration law has roots in racial beliefs. Now time to move on to the next major legislation in US immigration. You are trying to draw a connection between racism and CURRENT US immigration law by dredging up injustices in history. Your point is baseless. Now that even you can't deny it, I'm not surprised that you want to move on. It would be fair of you to at least ADMIT your point is baseless.

What do you think my point to be?

More accurately, you haven't grasped it yet.
