One might also note, that Arizona is just one example of many where the illegal immigration problem comes home in criminality and imprisonment. Some will claim that illegals do not cause a disproportional amount of crime but, the best figrue of this is in terms of prison population. Currently in Arizona there are (in round numbers) 6.2 million legal residents. Of those, 34,000 are in prison. There are also an estimated 500,000 illegal residents of which 5200 are in prison. This translates to 1 in 200 legal residents in prison versus 1 in 100 illegals, or about double the rate of incarceration. That is a BIG problem.[/b] Of course, some of this is due to the skewed nature of the illegal immigrant population. It is heavily adult and has a greater proportion of males than the legal population does.
