I want to appeal to the largest number of folks here and everyone's situation is different.
Some people may just have the goal of getting out of consumer debt.
I always "qualify" debt, because "debt" can be both GOOD and BAD.
You must understand that nuance. Many people think debt is bad. That is ridiculous.
Consumer debt is generally bad, but don't confuse that with GOOD DEBT (debt that pays you for having it).
There are a couple of REALLY GOOD books written on getting out of crushing consumer debt.
My first suggestion is to read a book written back in the 1930s (or so) by a guy named George Clayson (The Richest Man in Babylon).
You can buy it for about $8 and it can be read in a day or so. It's also available in the library for free. It's written in a Biblical tongue, but it's not a religious book. You just have to beat your way through the language to the lessons.
It is by far the best "get out of debt" book I have ever read.
