Have you noticed that you never hear Donald Trump referring to himself as an "expert?"
Bill Gates is not known as "Software design and marketing expert, Bill Gates."
Warren Buffett is not known as "Investing Expert, Buffett."
Tom Clancy is not known as an "expert writer" and Jack Nicholson is not known as an "expert actor."
Albert Einstein did not refer to himself as an "expert" in physics. He said he was "engaged in the study of physics."
However, many of the morons in today's colleges who teach (because they cannot actually DO anything) refer to themselves as "experts."
When you hear the word "EXPERT," either RUN or simply start laughing.
The term is generally used by people in academe who are great at mental masturbation, but don't achieve much that's practical.
I was a professional pilot for over 32 years. I flew all over the world in day, night all-weather conditions. I flew jets, fighters, little prop jobs, gliders, helicopters, jet helicopters, my body (skydiving) and became an instructor in virtually every airplane I ever touched. At the same time, I never looked at myself as an "expert."
People who use that term to describe themselves are looking for some sense of "support" to counter their sense of insecurity.
The term "expert" is like the term "rich." Everyone has used it YET NOBODY KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT IT MEANS!
