I made the trip to the USMC Museum today. Man, if you're ever in the area you gotta take the time to visit this great museum. Here's some pics: www.flickr.com/photos/28962877@N05/

Been there last year. Very nicely done. What is missing from the museum are few aircraft they had on displayed at the old USMC museum, located on post.

True, they have aircraft there but all of them are hanging from the ceiling giving you a really good view of the bottom of the planes. Granted, the undersides can be interesting...but the top sides are much more interesting.
I'm really looking forward to National Museum of the Army. Finally, one museum devoted to the army. I just hope they do it right, as the marines have done.

I've been to the old Infantry Museum...It's overdue they built a new one.
As for the National Musem...It's scheduled to open in 2013! I guess I'll just Have to wait then...as if I had a choice. I just hope they do it right, as the Marines have done.
P.S. Thanks 101!

Check this place out Larry, it's scheduled to open Aug. 16th, and is just off Ulmerton Rd., about half way between Belcher, and Starkey. I've been out there a couple of times talking to the owner about doing some volunteer work doing maintenance, and restoration on the couple of dozen tanks, APC's, and other AFV's in the collection. Most of them are operational, and some are driven in parades, and at other events. www.armedforcesmuseum.com/armed_forces_exhibits.htm
