What in the hell is wrong with the father of this boy?
..............................
Many people want to know why a parent would allow their child to operate such a high powered gun. The 8 year old was supervised but many parents say he should never had a gun in the first place.
Described as a super kid, 8 year old Christopher Bazilj attended Connecticut's Ashford School everyday. After his accident on Sunday, school officials are now faced with breaking the news to his classmates.
Supt. Leonard Alanza of Ashford School says, "We had our two full time psychologists and principal, go to all the classrooms in the school, meet with all the teachers privately out in the corridor, filled them in what they needed to know at that point and when they considered it to be appropriate, they went in and told the students."
Chris died after he lost control of the high powered machine gun he was firing. But parents want to know why a gun originally designed for the Israeli military, was ever in his tiny hands.
Judy Zink, mother of a 5 and 8 year old, says, "A parent to let their child to go to a gun range is unbelievable at the age of 8."
Daniel Narreau, a 14 year old, says, "Kids are going to follow into leaders. If their parents are going to be playing around with guns, their kids are going to be playing around with guns."
Under Massachusetts law, Chris was able to shoot because a guardian was with him. And that explains why a Sci-Tech student had a gun in his hands at the tender age of nine.
Tariq Jiles says, "I fired a 9mm handgun. That was the only gun I fired that day. That day, some of my friends were firing sniper rifles and an AK47 was fired that day too. They were also my age."
While police are calling this an accident, this gun expo was put on partially by the Pelham Police Department. The police chief there was not available for comment.
