This was a hard piece to write, because guns by definition are manly, except for Berettas, gold-plated TEC9s, .25 caliber pistols or anything made by the French. To simplify things, I have limited it to modern cartridge firearms a man might, can, and should collect and shoot. There are certainly other manly weapons, and you may have a different list. As long as the list contains nothing French, gold-plated, .25 or with pearl grips (which Patton correctly observed are the mark of a New Orleans pimp), it is a good list. Enjoy: arthurshall.com/x_2007_manly_firearms.shtml It's written very tongue in cheek, but even though we each have our own favorites it's hard to fault him his choices.

LMAO
Good read swabbie, thanks. Of course, my current student thinks I am coming unhinged from my all the laughter.

They got you doing the "instructor pilot" thing Twofoot? I'm surprised your company is still hiring/instructing. USA Truck cut 300 drivers loose just before Christmas. Needless to say my youngun was one of them and he's back here looking for work. I'm sure he'll find something though he's gonna be madder than hell if he has to go back to work at IHOP cooking.

Yea, still training. Hell they bitch whenever I want to take a break from it. How long has he been driving now? My crappy memory could be off, but it seems like something around a year now. That about right? If so, even if he's only been on the road 6 months, he shouldn't have any problem finding a job. Hell, tell him to call Werner. If I am not mistaken, we have several dedicated accounts in that part of the country. And even if he can't get on dedicated, there is regional and 48 states. He can go to, www.werner.com/content/home/ and do an online application or call 800-362-3077 or 888-993-7637. Either of those should take him to recruiting. As long as his DAC report is clean, he shouldn't have any trouble.

I appreciate it shipmate. I'll pass the word to him but to be honest I think that in order to avoid having to pay unemployment they kicked him loose by citing "terminated for accidents." According to him they were minor, no police citations or injuries and were during his probation period. He also says he was never cited by DOT or police for any failure on his part. He was on the road about 9 months.
He had no warning, he says they called him from a run in Ohio and routed him into the yard in Roanoke VA and that's when he got the word. He had to take a bus home and because of that he had to leave an electric cooler and some other gear behind in the tractor.
Taking the fact that he was "terminated" and not laid off into account neither he and I think any major line will take him on right now.
But it can't hurt to ask, right?

Hell, have him call. It certainly doesn't hurt to ask. And the fact that he was never cited for anything by DOT or locals helps. Sounds like it was low speed stuff, backing accidents and the like. People with far worse have hired on with major companies.
