Let's send the Auld Board off with a grand Irish wake. Share your biggest Brannigans and belly laughs. Heres a great old drinking song to kick it off... Kudos to Arethusa for the suggestion

You may know that my Granparents who lived with me most of my life were from Ireland. Gandma was from West Cork, Grandpa was from Armagh.
Tim Finnegan is good. But if you want sheer beauty, look up The Spinning Wheel.

My maternal grandmother, who died when I was ten, was from Gort, near Galway. I'll never forget her thick Irish brogue and ready laugh and wish I could have known her better. Her favorite "Irish" song was "How Are Things in Glocca Morra?" from Finian's Rainbow, an American Broadway musical. Here's a link for the lyrics: www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/finiansrainbow/howarethingsingloccamorra.htmI'm wondering how much of a void will be felt when members are unable to access the THC boards when they disappear? Having been through that experience before, I know for some, it won't be easy. It's great to have this Irish Wake to help vent about the loss and these boards for picking up from where we left off on Thursday, August 11, 2011. Thanks again, Grizz! Muffin

I hear a good story from an Irish man. There was a church somewhere in Ireland which decided to get rid of a booze. He gather his congregation and started preaching on alcoholism. He told them that drinking was a devils works. At the end of the his sermon he called lets get rid of gin. People run home and took gin and throw it into the river. Then he call to get rid of whisky. people went home brought whisky and threw it into the river. He continued getting rid of rum, cognac, etc. All alcohol was throw into the river. Once the congregation was finished, pastor started signing and was joined by his congregation.
SHALL WE GATHER AT THE RIVER...........

Has anyone decided what you're having to drink yet? I'll be fixing Grasshoppers - a mixture of white creme de cacao and green creme de menthe and cream. Hard liquor makes me gag, though I'd have some Old Bushmills if there were any in the house. Slante! And All Hail to the THC Boards - May they RIP. ;D Arethusa

Thank you, Grizz! Since I can't play youtubes on the computer, I just put "Nancy Whiskey" in the CD player. There's a group called The Town Pants that plays locally and they've got one of the rousingest versions of the song I've ever heard. ;D I know the revelers, er mourners, will enjoy the one you put on the computer! And All Hail to the THC Boards. May they RIP. And may the Wake for their departure be the best party ever had on the 'net. Muffin

"And may the Wake for their departure be the best party ever had on the 'net. " Well, so far it's just you and me. Can't be all bad. What? Do I have to make a scene to be counted? I'll be lurking in the shadows to startle and shock, sipping alone on a bitter bock, watching the hands on the chimney clock, scratching an ankle through an itchy sock, leaving a lumbar impression of a Glock, upon the upholstered padding of diner stock, as I select a parade of country rock, on the tattered 70's vintage juke box.
