What a lousy ending to a great season.

Depends on how you look at it. I'd say it was a great end to Detroit's season. They made the playoffs and lost trying to make a berth in the World Series and it took the Rangers six games to defeat them. All through the post-season, I kept hearing about the lack of the Tigers' pitching depth - that besides Scherzer and Verlander, they didn't have the stuff to take a best of five series. But, they beat the Yankees in a best of three ALDS. Texas is on a mission - they took charge early in the AL West and never looked back. They had Sciosa and the Angels eating their dust for who knows how long. Now, they're on their way to their 2nd World Series in a row and will likely walk over the Cards or Brewers and win their first championship since the team was formed on the bones of the old Washington Senators (now Twinkies) in 1961. Took them only 50 years - Boston waited 100 and the Cubs are still trying to win one after 100+ years and recently hired Boston's GM Theo Epstein to try and get them there. The Tigers have won four World Series championships (1935, 1945, 1968 and 1984) and have won the American League pennant 10 times - the last being in 2006 with Jim Leyland, with a loss in the World Series to St. Louis. Personally, I think Jim Leyland is wasted as the Tigers' Skipper. The Pirates need him even more. Except the team wouldn't hire him in 2006, so he went to Detroit instead. All in all, I think this was a good season for your team. And best of luck for it to go even better for you same time next year. Muffin

A 15-5 drubbing is a pretty shitty way to end a season, no matter how you try to pretty it up.
Bad call on Leyland's part not to pull Scherzer when he couldn't find the strike zone.
A couple of bad calls from behind the plate didn't help either.
Oh well, wait till next year.

Verlander's comments complementing the Tiger fans in an after game interview both surprised and impressed me, the man is a class act. It was all about the fans and not about him, refreshing in this day and age.
