It used to make me uncomfortable when someone said "Thank you for serving."

Maybe it was because, for my generation, those thanks were a long time coming and in no small part, because I never knew what to say.

Today, I offer a simple, humble response: "It was my honor and privilege to serve. Thank you."

I know the feeling. It was not easy to accept the phrase. You are right it was long time coming.

All all who served, it was honor and priviledge to serving with you. To those who are serving now I gladly say Thank You.
