The Colts have, or will shortly release QB Peyton Manning, clearing the way for the Colts to use the number 1 pick in this years draft on Stanford QB Andrew Luck.
Manning leaves after making Colts football in the city of Indianpolis legitimate. He brought them to the playoffs nearly every year, gave them two superbowl apperances, and gave the Colts their only superbowl trophy in their current city.

Maybe the Niners will pick him up.

Maybe the Niners will pick him up. Nope. Alex Smith had a great year last year so the 49ers are looking to resign him and can get him at a considerably lower cost than Manning will demand, which should allow the team to address other needs. -DD

Looks like the Cardnals and Broncos have the edge right now to get Manning. Manning in that ugly Broncos uniform. I'm sure Warrior would like their sudden improved chances to win a superbowl.

The Titans and Dolphins are now in the mix as well, but I have to wonder how much consideration Peyton will give to the Dolphins since they just traded their best receiver to the Bears.

And whaddya know, the 49ers have suddenly emerged as a contender for Manning. Manning came in and conducted a work out for the 49ers last Friday.
He has also worked out for the Broncos and the Titans, and it currently appears the Titans have the edge in securing Manning for next year.
