This is the 1997 re-make, for TV
Sounds like a disaster ... bit I think its BETTER than the original.
Mainly, it explains the motivation better. In this one, Kowalski is something besides a burn-out with a death wish. A pregnant wife with lupus is a more compelling reason to dash across country than... whatever the 1970 movie was about.
