The Broncos just became the odds on favorite to win the AFC West now that Peyton Manning has come out and publicly directed his agent to work towards signing a deal with the Broncos. The Broncos have a good defense, a decent receiving corps, and with Manning, one of the best QBs to ever play the game and who presumably still has some years left in him. The interesting side note here, is the automatic assumption the Broncos will be dealing QB Tim Tebow. I think this would be a mistake. As I said, Manning has a few years left in him, having Tebow sit behind Manning and learn would benefit him and the club long term. Also, Tebow's style of play differs greatly from Manning. Having a QB who can put is head down and bull forward for a tough yard or two might be a good way to complement the offense. Lastly, Tebow prides himself on being a team player. I don't see him creating much controversy by staying. The x factor though, is the fan base which did support Tebow last year. If Manning does struggle after being out one year with an injury it is not hard to imagine some people start to call for Tebow Time again. Trading Tebow takes some pressure off of Manning to perform miracles immediately. Below is a link analyzing how Manning's addition helps the Broncos. www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d827b390c/article/peyton-manningled-broncos-suddenly-afc-favorites?module=HP11_cp-DD

As I said, Manning has a few years left in him, having Tebow sit behind Manning and learn would benefit him and the club long term. That's the way I saw it, and how I hoped it had gone. But Tebow is a Jet now. Also, Tebow's style of play differs greatly from Manning. Therein lies the rub. With Manning at the helm, the offense would have to be geared towards HIS style of play, and Tebow would have to adopt that style to fit into the system. Not that he couldn't. Manning as a mentor would have been the perfect prescription to round out his skills. But he would have had to spend a lot of time as an apprentice, perhaps years, after already having been the starter that took a 1-4 team to the second round of playoffs. I wish him luck, but he just made my Tebow Broncos Jersey obsolete.
