I finally saw this movie and it certainly lived up to its hype. If you love animals, particularly horses, you're gonna love this story! It's based on a Brit theatrical production, but it was hard to picture how any sense of the action could be felt from a stage. Hence, this was a play that was born to be made into a movie, particularly by a genius so adept at convincing you that things that can only happen in the movies could somehow come true. There's also no one but Spielberg who can end his films quite like he does. If you can't watch the closing of ET without a tear spring to your eye, the ending of War Horse will have you becoming quite misty-eyed too. As for the lead character, he was superb. Gorgeous animal through and through. In fact, it's a shame that the horse or horses who played "Joey" didn't receive quite the attention the Jack Russell from The Artist received. But, that's the nature of Hollywood. I don't suppose any of the award cermonies besides the wacky Golden Globes would've allowed a horse onstage during their programs. Even one as miraculous as the War Horse. Arethusa
