"Recently, I was driving down pot-holed, two-lane, non-freeway 101 near Monterey (unchanged since the 1960s) when the radio blared that on a recent science test administered to public schools, California scored 47th in the nation. As I looked at the congested traffic on the decrepit highway and digested the idea that our public schools are competitive only with Mississippi and Alabama, I wondered — is that what we get for a more than 10 percent income tax, 10 percent state and local sales taxes, and the highest gas taxes in the nation?" www.nationalreview.com/corner/299975/can-california-be-fixed-victor-davis-hanson#

I left 5 years ago, and all I miss are friends and relatives...
and a few restaurants.

California could be fixed. First they must look where they spend money. First I would take money from the "Santuary Cities". Then I would cut funds which are going in support of illegals. Downsize the local government. You do not need to raise taxes, what you need is ballanced budget. Calkifornia need to lower corporate taxes so they would attract businesses to back. As longest stupid people are in charge, it will not happen.

As longest stupid people are in charge, it will not happen. In other words, no... California can not be fixed. They won't even consider the options you proposed. They will instead threaten to lay off police and firefighters, close schools, close parks, close libraries, charge more for every service under the sun, raise taxes, and basically drive more business out of the state. And more and more taxpayers will leave to find jobs and a lower cost of living elsewhere, while being replaced by illegal immigrants and their anchor babies.

In that case you may have to build wall around Mexifonia (California) and all Federal funds would be used someplace else.
