RIA Novosti Launches Special Project on Russia’s Victory in 1812 War RIA Novosti has launched a special project devoted to the 200th anniversary of Russia’s victory in its war against Napoleon, “1812: War and Peace, New Vision.” The project will run from June to the end of 2012, the exact duration of the 1812 war on Russian territory. The project is divided into several sections covering the main aspects of the 1812 war, and is designed to appeal to both history buffs and newcomers to the subject. The project includes detailed information about the causes and political consequences of the war, the alignment of forces before the war and the sides’ military losses, as well as weapons of the early 19th century and the outcome of individual battles. An interactive map charts the main events of the war, the opponents’ forces, troop movements and the sites of local battles. Viewers can watch the war unfold in chronological order, just as it happened 200 years ago. www.en.rian.ru/agency_news/20120618/174106788.html
