man, great stuff. Years ago I worked with this huge man, Tom Frey. He was from Grand Rapids, MI. He claimed that he played defensive tackle under Schuembleckler of U of M when he got drafted in January 1967. So how he ended up a clerk typist for a Chaplin witht he special forces in Lang Vei. Tom was just a grunt, not a special forces type and his favorite expression was "Fuck'n right buddy." Tom use to tell of the 1968 Tet and how the new base at Lang Vei was overran. He would joke with me for all request for assistance from the 7th Marines at Kae Sahn were not answered until the position had been over ran. He said that they had to flee to the jungle and live off "bugs and shit" for three days. I reply, that I was still in highschool in 68 and he'd punch me in the arm. Then, I saw this piece on the Military Channel, "Green Barets" military.discovery.com/schedule/episode.jsp?episode=1&cpi=53608&gid=13682&channel=MILNow I don't know how much of what Tom conveyed was BS, but those Green Barets were worthy of high honor. Watch this if you get a chance.
