My girlfriend and I are going to look into buying some firearms for ourselves in the near future. She likes the SIG/SAUR 9mm, which I like as well, but I've always wanted a Glock. I love the clean look of the gun and the fact that the hammer is covered.
Anybody else here have any comments pro or negative on either hand gun?

Have either of you tried either pistol? If not I recommend heading over to Superior Pawn and Gun and see if they have both models to rent and try 'em. I haven't been to their range on VA Beach Blvd in years but I have been a regular until recently at the range on Lishell, near Lynnhaven Mall which they bought from A&P Arms not long ago.
Last time I was at that range they had 2 or 3 Glocks of various model / caliber for rent though I don't recall whether or not they have a SiG, it wouldn't surprise me if they did.
I plan on Mrs and I becoming regulars at the Lishell range again after I get my eyes fixed. If you're interested they also can handle long guns on that range (indoor,) shotguns and rifles with some restrictions on round power / penetration.
Also, keep your ears open for gun shows at the Hampton and Virginia Beach Convention Centers, you might be able to swing a good price from one of the dealers. Who knows, you might be able to purchase both (you buy one and she buys the other to avoid the idiotic 1 gun a month rule Virginia has.)

Thanks for the advice on Superior, didn't know they rented out guns. I'll check em out later. -DD

"SIG or Glock?" Ginger or Mary Ann? Both are top notch pistols. I like the Glock, mainly because I have one. I'm not real familiar with how the Sig breaks down, but with a Glock.... It's so easy a caveman could do it. The only other thing I would say is forget the 9mm, and go with the .40 S&W, or maybe even .45 cal. for yourself.

I have a Glock in .40 S&W and it's always performed flawlessly.
The only thing I don't like about it is it's a little rough on my hand because of the way it fits.
It's fine for shooting off a couple of mags but I wouldn't want to burn through a couple of boxes in a single visit to the range.
I cna shootthe 1911 all day with no problem.
My point is, whatever you rent to check out, make sure you burn enough ammo to know you'll really be comfortable with it.
Have fun

I agree with TC about caliber. 9mm is okay, I have a 20 year old piece that's fun to shoot and it's small enough Mama Sailor can handle it with no problem though she prefers her Rossi .38 snubby. But I also like my 1911A1 and like TC I can shoot mine all day. I think both SiG and Glock produce .45ACP models as well as .40s.

Both guns are good, but I prefer my CZ-75.
