As we all remember, Saddam Hussein ordered Iraqi military forces to invade Kuwait in 1990. His dream was to start building his new Babylonian empire. He made a good choice in targeting Kuwait, a rich defenseless country. His murderous soldiers raped women, killed innocent civilians, and further ravaged the small country. There were so many murders and other crimes that nobody could guess the extent of the horror being inflicted on the Kuwaiti people. The only information the world had was stories from people who had escaped Kuwait and some on the left accused them of exaggeration.
What may be most shocking is what Nancy Pelosi said about liberating Kuwait. "I hope the point will be made, that we take very seriously the environmental consequences of our actions." This is horrible. Thousands of people were being brutalized in Kuwait and the Democrats were concerned about the environmental consequences of liberating Kuwait. Other Democratic quotes are even more shocking.
Ted Kennedy exclaimed: "It is sad, that the United States with all our ideals and all our heritage and all our history has now become the country driving the engine of war, while other nations offer the olive branch of peace." Let that sink in for a moment. Was Saddam Hussein offering the olive branch of peace when he invaded an ally of America and brutalized it's people? This of course is a perfect example of liberals rushing to blame America first. It is truly unacceptable.
