Well he would be covered by all the media if he just said "I don't agree with the Iraq war." If you came out with that our un-biased media would go over his accomplishments night and day, over and over again .

I said it over at THC and I'll say it here, fuck the Navy Cross, this guy deserves the Medal of Honor in the best traditions of Audie Murphy and all the other soldiers who realized they were in SHIT CITY so deep they had nothing to lose by attacking head on.

Bob, I was thinking the same thing reading the story. He has my vote for a CMH!

Yes, I recall seeing this report over on THC but not with such a Hollywood-esque [dare I say 'leftie'] presentation which I find highly amusing and very reminiscent of Ollie North's money spinning series "War Stories".
As to whether Chontosh deserved a medal - or what medal - I'll leave to you experts on Militaria Americana.
From what I recall of the U.K. and Commonwealth service we tended to expect something more than a demonstration of basic training while the others [who had supposedly passed the same training] skulked around keeping their heads down, so I doubt he would have got one from General Sir Mike Jackson unless there was a particularly pressing political need for a 'hero' at the time.
