I seem to recall a really messy slug-fest from April 1972 with that unit. I had left DaNang was on the MARDET USS Enterprise by then. But it seems that Stars and Stripes ran a series about the battle.
A very good friend from church volunteered that he was front seat in a Cobra with the 147 ID for the battle. I don't know where the story came from. We were just shooting the BS when he said that he had been transferred from the 1st AirCav to the 147 ID in Jan 1972. The memories that came forth were very hard for Alex to share.

Would that be the 197th (Light Infantry Brigade), which was part of the Americal Division?
