Exclusive Interview: The Struggles Behind Leningrad Trial Documentary (VIDEO) In 1970, Eduard Kuznetzov lead a group of 15 Soviets, including Sylva Zalmanson, in an effort to steal a plane and escape Soviet Russia. The group, mostly Jews forbidden from leaving the USSR, realized that they faced the risk of discovery, imprisonment, or being shot down while in flight. Still, they persevered with their plan, even when they knew their efforts had been discovered by the KGB. With her impassioned words during what became known as the Leningrad Trial—"If I forget thee oh Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its cunning"—Sylva, along with her comrades, ignited the world and started a movement that ultimately brought down the Iron Curtain. Now, their story is relegated to the history books, and has almost been forgotten. But Anat Kuznetzov-Zalmanson, the daughter of Eduard and Sylva, is on a quest to reignite this tale through her documentary “Next Year in Jerusalem.” She is currently in the final days of a Kickstarter campaign to raise the $100,000 she needs to make the film on a bare bones budget. Jspace caught up with Anat to learn more about this inspirational story, and her own journey to bring it back to life. www.jspace.com/news/articles/exclusive-interview-the-struggles-behind-leningrad-trial-documentary-video/12297

When it comes out I wonder if the Russians will riot and kill our diplomats. I've heard that movies can cause that sort of thing.
