Georgia mom home alone with kids shoots ex-con intruderA Georgia mother shot an ex-convict six times to protect her and her children after he apparently forced his way into the family’s home. The mom heard knocks on her front door Friday and assumed it was just a solicitor, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. She told her 9-year-old twins not to answer the door and, when the visitor began repeatedly ringing the doorbell, she called her husband at his job and he told her to gather the children and hide. **** The woman fired six bullets, five of which hit Paul Ali Slater in the face and neck area, Chapman said. But Slater, who has arrests dating to 2008 and was released from jail in August, was still conscious. “The guy’s face down, crying,” the sheriff said. The ballistic characteristics of the 38 Special are very similar to the 9mm and about as likely to get the job done. Oh yeah ... And use hollowpoints.

Face it 101, there are some guys who are born to be hanged and I think this goon is one of those. AND he has better luck than any leprechaun, she managed to shoot him 5 times in the neck and head without hitting anything critical. Amazing. |

That's pretty much what Mrs Sailor said when I showed her the article. Her favorite artillery is a .38 Special snubbie. At 7 yards she rarely shoots for or hits the head of her targets, her first group of five usually lands in the vicinity of "Big Al and the Boys." Ouch! The rest in the chest and abdomen. |

That's pretty much what Mrs Sailor said when I showed her the article. Her favorite artillery is a .38 Special snubbie. At 7 yards she rarely shoots for or hits the head of her targets, her first group of five usually lands in the vicinity of "Big Al and the Boys." Ouch! The rest in the chest and abdomen. Well.... that'll certainly stop anyone. (pained face) I imagine this lady was reacting rather then cooly aiming. Especially considering how many shots she got into the guys face he must have been within 5 yards of her when she started shooting. I wonder if five in the chest would have done a better job of killing the guy. -DD |

I think you're probably right DD. Note though that she was still on the phone with her husband while all this was going on.
Hubby was also on the phone with the 911 dispatch giving her a running commentary while talking with wife, trying to keep her calm, advising her on getting her and the twins into the closet and on what to do if they were found. The 911 tape was released yesterday.
When the scumbag finally yanked the door of the closet open he told wife to "shoot!" She did, then "shoot him again" when he didn't fall or back away. She emptied the revolver into his face. Like you I think she was too frightened to think about "center of mass" and pointed the weapon at the attacker's most visible feature.
In her favor, even though she was badly frightened she kept her wits, she didn't freeze or hesitate like so many others of both sexes would. She protected her kids and was clearheaded enough to tell the bastard to "stay down" and threaten him with a gun that he may not have known was empty while she cleared the kids out of the house.
She did good IMO.
