I suppose I should have started this last weekend, but better late then never.
Their are 8 teams left in the playoffs, here how I currently see it shaking out.
THIS WEEKEND:
AFC
Pats over Texans: Houston has been playing flat and New England remains as dominate as they've been in the past few years. I see this as a deceptively high scoring affair, New England puts up a lot of points late, but gives up a late run by the Texans which falls short, 38-28.
Broncos over Ravens: Almost a trap game. It's hard to know if Joe Flacco, Anquan Bolden, and Terrance Smith will be on their game or not. That, and of course Peyton's mixed success in the playoffs. Still, I think even if Peyton has a slow day and the Ravens have an up day, the Broncos defense will come through and still win the game, 28-21.
NFC
Falcons over Seahawks. Most folks see this as the trap game this weekend. It's not hard to see why, Atlanta is 0-3 in the playoffs with Matt Ryan at QB and Atlanta played what some consider to be an easy schedule. That and people are high on the Seahawks. I think this puts a chip on the Falcons shoulders, especially their defense. I see them rising to the occasion and I see a healthy dose of Ryan and RB Michael Turner carrying the day for the Falcons 21-17.
Packers over 49ers. Of course I'm going to pick my Packers to win. In truth I think this is the closest matchup of the weekend. 49ers DL Justin Smith has been out the past few weeks but will give it a go. If he's effective in his play, the the 49ers can rush four against the Packers and drop seven into coverage, the receipe for their week one victory, and the two losses to the Giants. If he isn't effective then the Packers offense needs to put up a lot of points and force the 49ers second year QB into a few mistakes. I'll take the Packers 35-32 in this game.
That's my picks for this weekend, anybody else want to make theirs?
