Winchester 1886 Short Rifle (new manufacture) 20" Bbl in .45-70 Govt. This will knock down a moose or a Cadillac but for my purposes, it's serious hog-bane. I just stole one for $700 on Gun Broker. Funny thing is, the seller had it for sale in the CalGuns classifieds for $1000, then dropped to $900. We were negotiating a meet-up at the FFL of his choice to do the CA transfer BS, but we couldn't put the logistics together to make it happen as he lives about 150 miles away. The rifle has only had 6 Rounds fired through it. Owner is selling because he can't use the iron sights and needs something that will mount a scope. So now he's doing free shipping to my preferred FFL and I've saved $300 off his original ask plus the gas. How sweet is that?

So here's how this works in the Kalifornia Demokratisch Volksrepublik.
I send the seller certified funds.
I contact my FFL, stating I have made a purchase.
He contacts the seller and secures a copy of photo ID and provides shipment instructions.
Seller ships the rifle when he verifies payment is legit.
When the FFL receives the rifle, he contacts me to come and fill out the paperwork, pay the transfer fees and submit my thumbprint for the backgrounfd check.
Once all that is done the FFL locks up my rifle in his vault for the ten day waiting period.
After ten days, I can go pick up the rifle as long as I sign an affadavit that I have a CA DOJ approved safe or locker OR I can produce an approved trigger locking device purchased within the past week, reciept required.
Once this is all accomplished I can actually take my firearm home, probably sometime within about three weeks.
Fun, huh?
Coming soon to a neighborhood near you if the Dems get their way.

And yeah, the hoops you are having to jump through to purchase this beauty are rediculous.
