Most pizza shop owners would be terrified if a customer brought an AK-47 to pick up a pie.
Not Jay Laze. In fact, the owner of All Around Pizza is encouraging it. As of Friday, he's been giving a 15 percent discount to anyone who walks in carrying a gun or their concealed handgun permit.
Laze, a gun owner, said he got the idea from an ice cream shop in Utah that offered a similar discount. So far, "it's been awesome," he said. Since Friday, 80 percent of the customers in his Holland Road shop took advantage of the discount, he said.
Some carried 9 mm pistols, Laze said, and one did bring in an AK-47.
If business keeps up, handguns might be as common a sight as the best-seller deluxe pizzas.
Laze said he'd thought about offering the discount for a limited time, but "it might be permanent if people like it that much."
