Assuming everyone drives a car/motorized vehicle here, what do you drive?
I got my dad's Oldsmobile Intrigue with 165,000 miles on it. It's really simple to drive though, so no complaints here.

My POS Nissan Altima....I hate that thing.
Whenever humanly possible (e.g. it isn't raining outside), I'm on my bike.

A 1998 Chrystler minivan.....white with gray trim. I love it, but we've really put the miles on it and it's starting to be time to look for a replacement before majoy stuff starts going on it. This is my 3rd minivan and every single model has had to have the airconditioning fixed almost every year. I'd love to get an other minivan (love my FWD) or maybe a small suv that has a tighter turn.

Yeah, I personally hate minivans, except for the fact that the seat is high off the floor, so you can see better.

Sitting up higher, so I have leg room and don't feel like I'm sitting on the floor is one of the reasons I like it. It's also nice to be able to see over the hood of the car...........at 5'2" I have a bit of difficulty seeing in most cars.

A/C problems are common on all GMC vehicles. as are alternators and transmissions on the V-6 models...and the V-6 engines. My personal opinion is, well, I don't hold GMC in high esteem. Dodge and Ford are mechanically better. And you can't go wrong with Toyota, Honda and Nissan, very mechanically sound, built to last. Have you looked at the PT Cruiser, Honda CR-V or some of the other small "SUV"s?

I have to admit I love those minivans. My mother got one to cart all the grandkids in, and I thought it the ugliest thing ever not to mention stupid. Until I drove it. They went outta town and my husband had rolled our Ford Explorer (go figure, it rolled) so I had no other choice. I fell in love w/how easy it was to tote the toddlers in and out of and the shopping bag rack in the back is the bomb. When my kids would try and escape I could walk to the back of the van and put them back in their seats. And it got better gas mileage than my Explorer.
I loved my Explorer but was always a Chevy girl. All of my first cars were Chevy's. I had an older model Blazer, the big one w/the removable top, I loooooved that truck. The only time it broke was when I was out four-bying in the mud and jumped it high enuf to give a girl a concussion. I used to beat all the boys w/that truck. It was tall w/a short wheel base so I never got stuck and always had more tools in my car than the boys. I grew up w/an auto and diesel mechanic and have to differ w/you sfc, Chevys rule. We called my truck the beast and I don't know how many fords I had to drag outta the mud.
My next was a 68' Chevelle, now that car was hot. I loved that car, but sold it when I had kids because I couldn't afford the upkeep for a classic car, especially on an Island where everything rusts.
Now I drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee limited and my husband is in lust w/his Dodge Ram P/U. We live in Alaska, small cars aren't so good for getting around in, especially in the winter and when alot of the roads in your town are still dirt and mud.

I based my opinion on experience. Before getting called up I was a Claims Adjuster for an extended warrenty company. I took claim calls all day from dealerships and garages and we got far and above more calls on GM's then an other make. I'd say nearly more calls then all other makes combined. On top of that there have been problems with GM parts that have a history of failure (A/C compressors, alternators, etc) that GM has not done anything to fix. They have done some minor changes to their intake manifolds that were causing the engines to either hydrolock or at worst the crankshaft bearings would fail.
I just saw too many problems with GMs that GM never seems to address...ever heard of Designed Obsolescence?

The mighty 2000 hyndai accent is my ride It's gets great gas milage, and the small size allows for some nice maneuvering on the freeway. It only broke down on me once and that was last week . Hopefully sometime in the near future I'll break down and buy a new car and deal with the payments. Of course when I'm back home in the Nevada mountains the fucking automatic drives me nuts

Surprisingly, Hyundais have been improving in quality over the last decade or so. Not a whole lot of problems that I'm aware of.
I just saw the Toyota FJ Cruiser for the first time today (in a magazine). Looks like their competition for the Xterra.

Trisha, you should look into Honda minivans. The Honda is a really good vehicle. My parents got rid of their 2000 infinity a couple months ago and got a 2006 Honda accord. I actually went with them. The guy at the dealership thought my father looked like an actor on the Sopranos, so he reduced the price offer substantially. It's not a bad car at all. And it's made to last, as Larry noted. It's also made to save gas. The funny thing is, though, that my parents had been driving a V-4 infiniti. The Hinda is a V-6, so it uses MORE gas than the infiniti ever did. I share (unfortunately) a 2006 BMW with my sister. That's a great car. And thankfully, it's just a lease! But definitely look into getting a honda minivan. Take care.
