Nice picture Sailor. By my guess, I suppose you joined the Navy at a pretty young age. If I may ask. What made you decide to make a career out of the Navy? I joined up right out of High School. Figured I should do the smart thing 'cause we couldn't afford college and I had a low draft number. My draft notice caught up with me at my first duty station. ;D I stayed in for a couple of reasons. First was that the field I was in was interesting, and the other was that there were no jobs to be had in Northern Michigan at the time unless I wanted to work cutting timber for wood pulp year round. I had friends get hurt badly doing that, one had a tree land on him - fucked him up pretty badly. Another got bit by a chain saw. Errrr! Not for me man. Navy wasn't a bad deal, got to see a lot of the world I probably wouldn't have gotten to see otherwise, found a cutie to hook up with (still with her 28 years later) and now have a small stipend coming in each month and still have Champus Tricare to cover the mounting medical costs for the rest of our lives.

Sailor, you get your good looks from your mom! Great photo! Thanks, but I'm not that good looking. You should have seen her in her 20s and 30s. Babe!

Omaha, or as we call it, the only part of Nebraska. Actually I'm about a 15-20 minute drive away from dowtown, but I'm still in the metro area. I live in a little town. 7,000 people.

Geesh, you're really not that far from me......a few hour drive. One of these days we're going to see that zoo they have up on Omaha. Small town? lol! It cracks me up what defines a 'small' town. I thought the town of 25,000 was small when I was in Queens, then went to ND to a town of 200........, now I live near a town of 500.

Yes, that's the one..............mmmmmmm I like it hot. LOL! You know how it is out here, lots of wide open spaces and all the people packed into little towns. I was dismayed when I first moved to the Great Plains, never having seen much for wide open spaces. I was like, "With all that space, why do they cram their houses so close together???"

Good on you, for liking the heat. I wasn't built for that.
I asked the same question when I came out.

Photo deleted.
Got some bad news last night. The gentleman in the photo, Dave passed away last night after a brief illness.
I'd like to go to Michigan for the service, but when she called to tell us my Mom told me to stay here "and get better." I don't argue with Mom. At 77 years young she can still wup my ass.
Besides, she has TWO families worth of kids she's raised who will do their best to take care of her.
Rest in Peace old friend.
