Nice country Montana, how's the hunting out there? I hunted this country a lot in my younger days. It is in the Eastern Sierra Nevada in California. There used to be real good deer hunting. Now, here in Montana,we have great hunting and my favorite,Fly Fishing!

Where in western Nevada did your family live? I figured by your handle you were a Nevadan. My family were among the very first settlers in Genoa, and all of dad's family were born there until him,in Woodfords California. You should know where Woodfords and Genoa are if you're from the CC area.

Woodfords? Afraid not. But Genoa I know. The town I grew up in is Dayton and became officially recognised as the first settlement of Nevada about 10 years ago. Much to the chagrine of Genoa Nice place though. Anyway welcome to the board. I don't make it over to THC that much anymore, but while over there I go by the handle of dustdevil28.

I know Dayton, the SECOND oldest settlement in Nevada Fraid not friend. First Permanent Nevada Settlement: In May 1851 a California-bound wagon train carrying Lucena Parsons and her husband George remained at Gold Cañon for almost two weeks due to Sierra snow. Lucena Parsons recorded that more than 200 miners were working the canyon. This made Dayton the oldest non-Native-American settlement in Nevada daytonnvhistory.org/history.htm
