Most of the prostitutes are gone and the luxury cars repossessed. Pirates while away their hours playing cards or catching lobsters. "There's nothing to do here these days," said Hassan Abdi, a high school graduate who taught English in a private school before turning to piracy in 2009. "The hopes for a revitalized market are not high." Armed guards aboard cargo ships and an international naval armada that carries out onshore raids have put a huge dent in piracy and might even be ending the scourge. While experts say it's too early to declare victory, the numbers are startling: In 2010, pirates seized 47 vessels. This year they've taken five. My wife is actually in Somalia now and she tells me that people there are starting to buy land up and businesses with some of them thriving. She also tells me, their government which is newly elected seems moderate enough.

The islamits have nothing to do with the pirates, and last I checked the AU was actually doing a decent job of providing security over there. Mogadishu is now secure and the TFG has gone away to be replaced by a actual representative government. Maybe there is hope for that hell hole yet. -DD |

Yes bud, really.
You ever wonder why there hasn't been any hostages intentionally killed? No one has ever been executed? They have all been held for ransom, and by individuals who then spend the money on booze, prostitutes, and anything else under the sun? Does that sound islamic to you?
Did you also ever consider the fact that piracy was all but done in Somalia when the CIC were about to take over?
Lets go even one step further, when was the last time al Shabaab or any other terrorist group claimed credit for a piracy attack in Somalia? You do realize that these groups are quick to claim credit for their attacks right? Surely you can find one single claim of responsibility, right? Nope, there is none because they have nothing to do with each other.
Cite all the phoney baloney reports you want, until events like the above happen there has never been any evidence to suggest a link between piracy and terrorism. It's never been proven and the actions and histories of both groups couldn't be more different.

LOL, I didn't give any "expression" and you can't prove a negative bud. I stated facts, not opinions. If you can prove any of my statements wrong feel free to do so, till then....... also, consider that If you can't prove a link between piracy and terrorism than don't you think that just might, just might, prove that I'm right? Sorry to say Peterd but DD is right when he writes that Islamists and pirates have nothing to do with each other. Those pirates aren't as cutthroat as Islamists are and it wasn't about religion with them only money.
