And to add that I've rechecked the Barnes Foundation site for updates on the collection, and the little Titian shepherd painting we discussed in your thread is still not included.

Don't know if it's because they plan to keep it at the old Barnes for the art teaching program or if it's been sold to fund the move to Philadelphia.

As for the notation "THC" besides the names of some of the other team sponsors in this thread, it means they were also sponsors when the thread was maintained on the old THC boards.

Which, alas, are gone forever.

Today marks the complete return of "real" MLB baseball after DD's A's tied their season opening series with Seattle in Japan last week.

There are two home openers on the schedule for today between 101's Tigers vs. Boston and Rem16's Cubs vs. the Nats.

And three of our teams are playing away: the Phillies at Pittsburgh, Socialcaesar's Blue Jays in Cleveland and Marie's Red Sox in Detroit.

Tomorrow DD's A's will return to their series against the Sailors in their home opener in Oakland, TC's Rays will face off against the Yankees in Tampa, SFV's Giants will play the Snakes in Phoenix, and Littlewheels' Rockies will play the Astros in Houston.

I am posting the schedules for our teams through Monday, but the scores will have to wait because the computers at work are being shut down so the system can go solar in part.

Not sure when I'll be back, hopefully before Easter weekend ends.

But, with the MLB Extra Innings package just installed for me to watch MLB all season, I can tell you where I definitely will be for the next few days - fully ensconced in my living room watching the Yankees play against TC's Rays and catching the games of the Phillies and some of our other teams when I can.

Without further adieu, thus begins our season with the schedules for the upcoming games of our sponsored teams in alphabetical order:

DD's Oakland Athletics: and Brandon McCarthy will meet the Seattle Sailors and King Felix Hernandez tomorrow night in their home opener at 10:05 p.m., EDT. On Saturday night at 9:05 p.m., EDT, the A's and Billy Beane rescue, Bartolo Colon, will take on the Mariners and Jason Vargas. On Easter Sunday, Oakland will be off to prepare for a homestand starting on Monday, April 9th at 10:05 p.m., EDT, versus the KC Royals with Tommy Milone and Luis Mendoza, respectively, on the hill.


Socialcaesar's Toronto Blue Jays: and Ricky Romero are beginning their regular season today with an away series versus the Tribe, with Justin Masterson as their starter at 3:05 p.m., EDT. Tomorrow, Toronto will be off to prepare for a continuation of that series on Saturday at 1:05 p.m., EDT, with Brandon Morrow on the hill for the Blue Jays and Ubaldo "the Gutless Plunker" Jimenez starting for Cleveland. On Easter Sunday at 1:05 p.m., EDT, Joel Carrero and Toronto will face off against the Tribe and Derek Lowe (formerly of the Braves). The Blue Jays' home opener is on Monday, April 9th, beginning at 7:07 p.m., with Henderson Alvarez starting for Toronto against Felix Doubront of the Boston Red Sox.


Rem16's Chicago Cubs: and Ryan Dempster are celebrating their home opener today at 2:20 p.m., EDT, against the Washington Nationals, with Stephen Strasbourg (the kid phenom who blew out his arm and lost a year to Tommy John surgery) on the hill. Tomorrow, the Cubbies will be off to rest in between their second game against the Nats set for 1:05 p.m., EDT, on Saturday with Matt Garza and Gio Gonzalez on the hill, respectively. On Easter Sunday at 2:20 p.m., EDT, the Cubs and Jeff Samardzija will face off against the Nats and Jordan Zimmerman. On Monday, April 9th, the Cubbies and Chris Volstad will commence a series against the Brewers and Shaun Marcum beginning at 7:00 p.m., EDT.


SFV's San Francisco Giants: and Tim Lincecum will start their season away against the Snakes, with former Yankee, Ian Kennedy as their starter, tomorrow night at 7 p.m., EDT. On Saturday, at 4:05 p.m., EDT, the G-Men and Adam Wainwright will face off against AZ and Zack Greinke. The Giants and Matt Cain will take on the Snakes and Josh Collmenter on Easter Sunday commencing at 4:10 p.m., EDT. SF and Barry Zito will inaugurate an away series against Littlewheels' Colorado Rockies and Jhoulys Chacin on Monday, April 9th, beginning at 4:10 p.m., EDT.


The Philadelphia Phillies: and Roy Halladay are beginning their season as we speak in a PA Turnpike series in Pittsburgh that began at 1:35 p.m. today, with Erik Bedard on the hill for the Buccos. Tomorrow, the Phillies are off and will resume play against the Pirates on Saturday at 7:05 p.m., with Cliff Lee and Jeff Karstens, respectively, starting for the teams. The Phillies and Vance Worley will face off against the Pirates and James McDonald on Easter Sunday beginning at 1:35 p.m., EDT. The Phillies and Cole Hamels will celebrate their home opener on Monday, April 9th, against the newly named Miami Marlins with Anibal Sanchez on the hill.

Marie's Boston Red Sox: under a new regime with the departure of GM Theo Epstein for the Cubbies and Bobby Valentine assuming skippership of the team after Terry Francona's sudden leavetaking last spring, started their season playing 101's Tigers in Detroit, with Jon Lester and Justin Verlander, respectively, on the hill in a game that began at 1 p.m., EDT, this afternoon. Tomorrow, the Beantowners will be off to rest up for another game against Detroit beginning on Saturday at 4:05 p.m., with Josh Beckett starting for Boston and Doug Fister for Detroit. On Easter Sunday, Boston and Clay Buchholz will face off against the Tiggers and Max Scherzer beginning at 1:05 p.m., EDT. But, let's not get ahead of ourselves, it's only April 7th.

Winners of Thursday's games were the Blue Jays over the Tribe in the Marathon noted by Socialcaesar, the Phillies over the Buccos, and 101's Tigers over Marie's Red Sox. But, Rem16's Cubs were swatted by the Gnats.

Just a side note, I sent Easter greetings to Marie, a former HBO poster and THC member, this morning with an invitation and link to join us here in hopes she will do that, and soon.

In yesterday's action, TC's Rays won in a squeaker over the Yanks and LW's Rockies pounded Houston. Losses were sustainded by DD's A's to Seattle, SFV's G-Men to the Snakes, and the Yankees to the watergoing Stingers.

I'm used to it though - have been putting this thread together since starting it during my days as an HBO poster 6 years ago.

Even with the 5 a.m. mornings assembling the info and posting it for seven months, it's a labor of love that helps me to keep up with what's happening in MLB generally and with my Yankees.

Besides offering some enjoyment and quick updates to those of us who are as fanatic about their favorite MLB teams as we are!

Speaking of your team, I've got great hopes for Billy Beane's gambling to have good outcomes this year - you did see that Yoenis Cespedes won that game in Japan, right?

And already the hypesters are hard at work - here's one projecting he'll be the AL's 2012 Rookie of the Year!

An objective view of the performance of 7 of our ten teams in their opening series is that it was pretty dismal.

Subjectively, as would be expressed in today's version of the popular parlance, it sucked.

Time was that Spring Training was intended to pound players back into shape after five months of off-season sloth.

These days, the month before the regular season smacks more of "Survivor", with players on the brink of elimination auditioning for the Billy Beane stakes, and young kids from the farm system attempting to prove they've got enough stuff to keep them from being voted off the island.

And, with the Yankees' big name players being swept by the buff and ready-to-play Rays, it showed.

Congrats to yesterday's other winners: 101's Tigers, who swept the Red Sox in three games at home and Rem16's Cubbies beating the Nats to avoid a three game sweep at home.

Others, besides Yankees' fans, whose teams fared less well in their first series of the season were LW's Rockies being grounded down by the Astros to lose that away series 1-2; SFV's Giants being swept in three games in Phoenix by the Snakes; the Phillies being dragooned by the Buccos to lose that series in Pgh, 1-2; and Socialcaesar's Blue Jays losing to Cleveland, but winning that away series, 2-1, nonetheless.

DD's Athletics had the inimitable foresight to take Easter Sunday off after losing their series to the Mariners 1-3, hopefully to spend it running or lifting some weights.

Monday was a really good day for us with double the number of our teams winning, considering that two winners from Sunday were off yesterday. ;D

The bad news is two of our teams had to lose to those that were victorious, but with ten teams to cover this year, six of which play in the AL, that will happen a bit more frequently in 2012.

Congrats to yesterday's winners: Marie's Red Sox over Socialcaesar's Blue Jays in Toronto; SFV's G-Men over LW's Rockies in Denver; the Yankees over the Zeroes in B-More; and DD's Athletics over the KC Royals in Oakland.

Hey, I'll take what we can get. The A's are 3-4, not a great start, but not a horrific start either. I'm still curious as to what Manny Ramirez will bring to the table when he's healthy and has served his suspension. My guess is it won't be much, but hope springs eternal.

A couple of MLB announcements today: Sunday, April 15th, is the annual Jackie Robinson Day when MLB players will display Jackie's jersey number on their backs and the Robinson family will be feted as well.

Also, the All Star Game festivities, for those of you who haven't marked it on your calendars yet, will take place in the park of the Kansas City Royals from July 6th through 10th, with the traditional HR Derby played on Monday night, the 9th, and the AS Game on Tuesday night, the 10th.

Yesterday was a good day for 4 of our teams: 101's Tigers beat TC's Rays to win their homestand 2-1; SFV's Giants defeated LW's Rockies to win this away series, 2-1; the Phillies prevailed over the Fish to win their homestand 2-1; and Rem16's Cubbies finally pulled off a win and avoided a 4 game sweep by the Brewers.

No other team losses were sustained.

DD's A's, Socialcaesar's Blue Jays, Marie's Red Sox and the Yankees had yesterday off.
