Eh, still bouncing around .500. Almost enough to give me hope we can keep ourselves in contention maybe long enough for Manny Ramirez to serve out his suspension and bring what the A's have been lacking, what they always seem to be lacking, a big bat to the plate.
The pitching has been a surprise. Colon has been great, and the defense is holding up. We just need the hits and we just might be able to give the Rangers and Angels a run this year for the AL West.

Sounds like that movie fired Billy Beane up to make an extra effort this year. A team with talented players at the end of their careers, but with some gas still left in the tank and talented newcomers can win a World Series - just look at the neighboring 2010 Giants. Unless Texas hits a major snag or, like Boston, chokes at the close of the season, they'll be tough to beat for the AL West title. Having recently lost two WS Championships, that team's on a mission and has won a lot of admiration because they came out of the gate fighting. And with so many other big contenders in the AL this year, the Wild Card will be a dog fight - still no word on whether there will be expansion of the number of playoff teams this year - that I've seen, anyway. But, who knows how it will turn out for Oakland? As I've always said, one of the things I love most about baseball is that never ceases to surprise. Enjoy your Sunday and the week ahead! Arethusa

A 2 run lead in the bottom of the ninth, and a gem of a game thrown by Bartolo Colon wasted partially by Colon himself who's error on a infield single put runners at second and third with only one out.
The rest is the A's bullpen failing to deliver.
Sigh.
