All Hail YF's Threadsters - Team Sponsors, Posters and Readers Alike! Johan Santana's No Hitter Yesterday:Major MLB news today is silly money Mets' starter, Johan Santana's, throwing of the first no-hitter in the 51 season history of the franchise in an 8-0 drubbing of the Cards yesterday, thus apparently justifying the loot laid down to hire the two-time Cy Young Award winner with the Twins in February of 2008. According to the report linked below from Yahoo Sports, Santana's is the 3rd no-hitter this season following Philip Humber's for the CWS on April 21st and Jered Weaver's for the Angels on May 2nd. Link: sports.yahoo.com/news/santana-pitches-first-no-hitter-044752105--mlb.html;_ylt=Am.D.zjEFMfuirBh6EtlFNQRvLYFAlso, if you're interested in some commentary on the brouhaha stirred up by the Ump who wouldn't let Yanks' catcher, Russell Martin, throw new balls to the starter after Martin had argued strikes and balls when batting, here's a link to a piece from Yahoo Sportswriter, Jeff Passan: sports.yahoo.com/news/players--umpires-need-replay-now-more-than-ever.html;_ylt=At0hV_7t17SxCSmU0aGNPlcRvLYFI'm reminded here of what historians have dubbed "the overmighty subject" typical of the sort who whupped the Magna Carta outta King John in 1215 to the everlasting benefit of Western civilization. Not sure if the Ump who punished Russell Martin would be so categorized, but it strikes me that the fans don't come to the park to watch the Umpires playing ball. In YFT team news, yesterday was another pretty good one for our ten teams with six wins and four losses to report. Winners of yesterday's games were: LW's Rockies over the LA Dodgers to lead that 3 game homestand, 1-0, and go for a win today; TC's Rays over the Orioles to lead that 3 game homestand, 1-0, and go for the win today; Fader's Red Sox over Socialcaesar's Blue Jays to lead that 3 game away series, 1-0, and go for a win today; the Yankees over 101's Tigers to lead that 3 game away series, 1-0, and go for the win tonight; the Phillies over the Miami Marlins to lead that 3 game homestand, 1-0, and go for a win today; and SFV's Giants over Rem16's Cubs to lead that 4 game homestand, 1-0, and try for a 2-0 lead tonight.
